Milky Spore - Grub and Mole Control:

Picture
Have you ever wondered if there was a product that was precisely suited to a particular task?

There is one product that will control all of your lawn grubs, Japanese Beetles and moles with one application.

The product that will handle all of these pests is called Milky Spore.

My Experience With My First Silent Spring:

When I decided to build anew home on a 5 acre wooded lot, I never gave it a thought that moles could be a problem. But, after a few short years, the mole problem surfaced.

At the time I was like most everyone else and went to our local garden center and bought the latest grub-killing potion out there. I won't mention the product name, but I can say the main active ingredient was Diazinon.

Did the mole problem go away? Absolutely, as advertised, for that year anyway. But I noticed that the yard had grown strangely quiet and I encountered dead birds around the property. Oh My Gosh! What did I do??

I didn't know it at the time, but the birds died because they ate the poisoned grubs as they surfaced. That was an awful feeling. One of the biggest attractions of living in the woods was the beauty of the song birds, and that was now gone.

I found a little known product called Milky Spore after considerable study. The product was thoroughly investigated because I surly didn't want to repeat this dreaded mistake.

Everything checked out - It was totally organic and safe for birds and humans. Upon arrival of the product, there was only one application made, and it lasted for 12 seasons. Amazing! That is the potential of organic pest control.

How Does Milky Spore Work

Picture
Lawn Grub Damage
There is a organically occurring bacteria as the main ingredient of Milky Spore. When the lawn grubs ingest this bacteria, it paralyzes their digestive system, and the die in a short period of time. After ingesting the powder, the grubs crawl to the lawn surface and die.

The bacteria then spreads by the billions, covering the entire surface of the yard. After application, it takes about 6 to 8 weeks for the product to take effect. The grubs, and Japanese Beetles will be completely gone.

But what about the moles? They will be looking for grubs in someone else's lawn. Their food source was taken away, and they won't come back until the grubs would return.

This being a very inert organic product, there are no health concerns for your family, pets or the birds. No poison, contaminates, water pollution, and lots of song birds.

How Is This Product Applied?

Milky Spore Applicator
I prefer the powder form of Milky Spore the best. The granular form does not last nearly as long as the concentrated powder form of Milky Spore.

Follow the application directions to the letter. Do not attempt to save material on the application and use their recommendations only as a maximum spacing. Additionally buy the Applicator as it is very inexpensive, and performs very well.

The application is as easy as filling the applicator with powder and ram it into the ground at 36" spacings. This will place a grid-work of Milk Spore at 36 inch spacing over your entire lawn.

Finally, do not forget to water the powder into the lawn very thoroughly. The reduction will not be too much for about a month, then there wiil be full control in about 8 weeks.

How Much Does it Cost?

Milky Spore isn't cheap. The cost works out to about 90 dollars per 10,000 square feet of lawn coverage. Consider the long term economics though. You will discover that it is genuinely a great investment. Also, the cardboard applicator tube only costs about $8, and it will last for several applications as long as you take care of it.

Where Can Milky Spore be Purchased?

You can try to purchase it at larger garden stores. I purchase the Milky Spore online and enjoy front door delivery a few days later.

Green Living Made Easy Rating?

It does everything as advertised, has a low application cost/year, is very healthy and takes care of three nasty pests in one operation. Therefore I give it the highest rating of 10 stars. So if you have moles or grubs or Japanese Beetles, or more likely all three, give Milky Spore a try. You will not be disappointed.
